Lakefront homes and marina with covered boat slips

Porto Cima is one of the lake’s best-known resort and residential communities, with lakefront homes, condos and larger boats. Docks here see heavy summer use, and owners tend to expect them to look as good as they work.

Common work in Porto Cima

If your dock is part of an HOA or shared dock, mention that in the form so the contractor can plan around association requirements.

A resort community with high expectations

Porto Cima is a planned lake community near Sunrise Beach on the west side of the lake, with upscale lakefront homes, condos and larger boats. Docks here tend to be bigger and better equipped, with covered slips, sundecks, lifts sized for heavy cruisers and plenty of lighting and power.

Bigger boats, bigger lifts

Large boats put heavy loads on lifts and docks. Common work in Porto Cima includes:

  • Lift service and upgrades: air and hydraulic lifts that no longer hold, sit uneven or are undersized for a newer, heavier boat. See boat lift repair.
  • Decking upgrades: replacing worn wood with composite or aluminum for a cleaner, lower-maintenance look.
  • Flotation: adding or upgrading floats when a dock gains a lift, a roof or a sundeck and starts riding lower.

Community and HOA rules

Planned communities often have their own rules for contractors, work hours and dock appearance on top of Ameren’s permit requirements. Mention your association in the request so the contractor can plan around access and any approvals the community requires.

Porto Cima questions

My new boat is heavier than my old one. Do I need a new lift?

Not always, but a lift has a rated capacity and you should not exceed it. A contractor can check your lift's rating, its condition and whether it can be upgraded, and whether the dock needs more flotation to carry the added weight.

Does my Porto Cima HOA need to approve dock work?

Check your association's rules. Many lake communities require approval for changes to a dock's size or look, and some set contractor work hours. Repairs that keep the dock the same are usually simpler.
